Auf wiedersehen... thanks for coming... see you soon...

What an amazing week combining football, friendship, and Twinning!

Spartans welcomed 2 teams, u12 and u14, from our twin town of Schrobenhausen, rekindling a friendship in football that goes back to 1992 when our friends in Schrobenhausen welcomed 12 boys and 4 adults for the very first sporting exchange. These exchanges continued each year until the mid-2010’s when things sadly dwindled. In 2023 Schrobenhausen welcomed an u18 team once again and the friendship was reborn. This week has been action packed: trips to Warwick Castle, Blists Hill, Alton Towers and Telford Town Centre, along with a canoe adventure down the Severn. The Mayor, Ian Wellings and several Twinning members also welcomed the players and their families in the Town Hall. It was amazing to learn that several of the adults on the trip were part of the original visit in 1992, it is fantastic that they are now visiting with their families. This is what Twinning is all about!

Four football matches have also been played, with Schrobenhausen coming out on top, winning 3 games to 1. A return is planned to Schrobenhausen next year where we hope to make honours even.

It was also great to see a thriving friendship between Bridgnorth Rugby Club and the Spartans. The new rugby Clubhouse hosting their final matches and last evening.

Off home on the Severn Valley Railway to Kidderminster on Saturday morning and then the long journey home by coach. It is very unlikely anyone will stay awake for long after such an amazing week.
