Mercy: The Trial

A Different Evening with Emma Woodhouse

Friday 4th December 2026, Bridgnorth Town Hall

Back by popular demand... join us on Friday 4th December in Bridgnorth's historical Town Hall and meet local author, Emma Woodhouse, who will tell us about her historical novel, Mercy.

Mercy Newton is not simply a fictional character- she, and the other characters and events in the story- were built on a foundation of extensive archival research. When the burnt body of Mercy's mother is found, Mercy is the prime suspect. Did she do it?

Not only will the event take place on the anniversary of Anne's death, attendees will also be in the very building where Mercy was initially tried before being sent to Shrewsbury prison. Emma will help us to relive the Trial. She has also kindly offered to do a book signing at the end of the event, promoting not only Mercy, but also her latest novel, Hellish Beauty.

Tickets cost £7 per person. Our last event sold out very quickly, so get these tickets whilst you can!

Refreshments will be available to purchase for a donation towards the Bridgnorth and District Twinning Association, and of course bring some cash along for the raffle!
