Meet Fran, our trip organiser. She got 12 out of 13 people successfully to Thiers and back, however, failed herself at the last hurdle. Everything was going too well: the taxis arrived on time; the journey to Luton Airport was uneventful; security was a breeze; boarding started on time... just before she was about to board she looked at her passport only to find it was her husband's! Shock, horror, disbelief! There was nothing that she could do than leave her fellow travellers to fly without her and do the walk of shame back through customs and out of the airport.
What should she do next? Go home with her tail between her legs, ashamed and feeling foolish... OR… somehow try to join the party the following day?
Her amazing husband arrived at Luton with her passport after a very difficult journey and the decision was made to travel on.
With determination, raised blood pressure and not a little trepidation she set off on her lone adventure. She caught a plane to Paris with less than 10 minutes to spare, found a hotel at Charles de Gaulle Airport for the night, travelled across Paris to Bercy Station arriving with one minute to spare before her train departed.
She arrived in Vichy to meet up with her fellow travellers for a town tour and finally arrived in Thiers 24 hours late.
What an adventure! Was it worth it? You bet it was - what an amazing weekend!
