Last weekend, members of the Twinning Associations from Thiers and Bridgnorth travelled to Schrobenhausen to celebrate another fantastic exchange with our friends in Germany.
The visit coincided with the annual Schrannenfest, giving everyone the chance to experience one of Schrobenhausen's most popular festivals and enjoy the lively atmosphere throughout the town. The live music and beer tents were a treat.

A particularly special moment of the weekend was the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the twinning between Thiers and Schrobenhausen. It was wonderful to mark four decades of friendship, cultural exchange and lasting connections between our communities.

The programme included guided visits to Eichstätt and Willibaldsburg Castle, a trip to Sandizell with its beautiful Asam church and moated castle, and a workshop celebrating friendship between the partner towns. Alongside the official activities, many twinning members and host families enjoyed spending time together and making the most of the glorious weather.
With temperatures soaring during the heatwave, some members chose alternative activities, including visits to the local Freibad, which was especially appreciated by the children on the trip!

Saturday evening brought everyone together for a memorable social evening, with delicious Bavarian specialities, entertainment, a quiz and bingo. It was fantastic to see friends old and new catching up and enjoying each other's company.
A huge thank you goes to everyone in Schrobenhausen who worked so hard to organise such a successful weekend, and especially to all of the host families who generously opened their homes and made everyone feel so welcome. These exchanges simply would not be possible without your kindness, dedication and hospitality.
Here's to many more years of friendship between our twin towns!
