On Friday evening, the Schrobenhausen Adult Education Centre hosted a fun get-together with its English twin town, Bridgnorth, in its Blue Hall.
Around 30 people accepted the invitation. Schrobenhausen's twin town relationship with Bridgnorth has existed for over 30 years, more precisely since 1992. Bridgnorth is located in the county of Shropshire and has a population of over 12,000. Thiers, Schrobenhausen's French twin town since 1986, was already twinned with Bridgnorth. This then evolved into the Bridgnorth-Schrobenhausen-Thiers twin town triangle. These three towns meet every three years, with the host rotating. In 2025, Bridgnorth hosted the large Anglo-German-French twin town meeting. According to participants, it's always a wonderful weekend with beautiful excursions and great encounters. Hartmut Siegl, the first chairman of the town twinning association, presented the most beautiful corners of Brigdnorth with the help of his wife Simona and his daughter Teresa and told more about the British friends and their "peculiarities", funny English laws and particularly cultivated traditions. Bingo, which is very popular on the island and has a Bridgnorth connection, was also played. With the Dalli-Klick, known from the ZDF cult series "Dalli Dalli" with the legendary Hans Rosenthal, in which a picture is pieced together bit by bit, the visitors got to know Bridgnorth better, bit by bit.
The participants got to know all the highlights of the British twin town: the North Gate, St. Leonhard's Church, High Street with Town Hall, Castle Street and Castle, St. Mary's Church, Castle Terrace to the Cartway, Bishop Percy's House, Low Town with the caves and River Severn, the Cliff Railway, Railway Street, the Railway Station, and a train ride on the Severn Valley Railway. "The evening was a huge success. Everyone loved the bingo and the Dalli-Klick puzzles, which really livened up the evening," said a very satisfied Hartmut Siegl. Following the information and fun games, there were various pies, a warm pastry that is very popular in England, white and red wine, and beer.
The next event of the Schrobenhausen town twinning association is the regular annual meeting on Monday, November 10, at the SCM sports park in Mühlried.
