Awe-inspiring Banners 2026

Each year, our French twin town of Thiers hosts the Thiers ville haute en couleurs festival in which around 150 banners are displayed. They are painted by various artists and community groups, who are separated into three age categories: adults, adolescents and children.
This year the theme was a choice between "enchanted undergrowth" or "delights and marvels of Earth." Pupils from Castlefields Primary, St. Leonard's Primary and Bridgnorth Endowed have taken part.
Pictured are their wonderful interpretations of their chosen theme:

On Thursday 23rd April we hosted a presentation ceremony at the Town Hall with Mayor David Cooper presenting the certificates to the participants. It was great to see teachers, families of the pupils and Twinning members coming along to show their support. Refreshments and sweet treats were provided by the committee.

The pupils have put a huge amount of effort, imagination, and care into designing and creating their banners. Each one reflects not only artistic talent, but also the spirit of friendship and connection between our two towns. We hope that in the future they'll be able to visit Thiers, perhaps during the Ville haute en couleurs celebrations.

The banners will be sent off at the beginning of May and will be on display in and around Thiers over the summer.
Well done everyone, we really are proud!
We would also like to thank Bridgnorth Town Council for supporting us to make this year's banner project such an amazing success.
